I am in the process of evicting teneants due to non-payment. I have gone through the process and am getting ready to move their posessions out to the street.
My qustion is: Am I liable for their posessions once I have put them(the posessions) off of the property?
It is my understading that if someone wants the things once they are on the side of the road, it’s free for whoever wants them. I am not interested in the things they have, but I don’t want this to come back and haunt me…like a lawsuit, etc.
I live in Florida… Any help would be appreciated.
P.S. This is my first “Lonnie Deal”. I am happy with the results so far, and look forward to selling it again.

this is not an area where you wing it. Here in NJ we have to follow very specific statutes, ie the sheriff must provide the notice, he must be present at the lockout, along with locksmith, moving van, movers. The plaintiff is responsible for paying for the move, providing and paying for the storage space for the first 30 days. Everything must be inventoried. You don’t want to be accused of stealing things. Do it by the book or it can come back to haunt you.
