Have never tried this, but I suspect that a title search or title “peek” might tell you this. you could probably find the same information at the courthouse yourself.
However, filing the records runs as much as a month behind, so might want to have a title company check for documents already in the pipeline, I forget what this search is called.

There was a HUD house for sale in my hood not long ago. When I first called the Realtor, he said it was under contract. I went by the house today and noticed the HUD sign was gone, so I called the Realtor again. He said the property was now back with the Lendor. He wouldn’t tell me who the lendor was. The dallascad.org site says the address can’t be found. My guess (pending inspection) is that it will need less than 10K in repairs.
How can I find the lender so I can make an offer? Any ideas?
