Well, I don’t know about sueing, but you can definately cause her grief if she got you SS# from work. why would she need/want it? It has nothing to do with leasing. Who looks up the SS# of thier landlord?
So if she thinks it’s not legal to do what you propose, tell her to take a hike and find another tenant.

I am leasing out a home in richmond,va and a potential tenent thought that it could have been a scam. I am not the owner of the house yet because I am subleasing the house from another investor. Somehow she got my social security number. Is this illegal? What do I need to do to protect myself from this person taking possibly taking my identity?

The potential tenant that was going to rent the house from me illegaly got a hold of my ssn#. I realized after I posted this message that she work for the social services dept so she probably looked my information up at her job. I am going to call her supervisor and let them know what happen. Do you think I need to sue for this? I do have sub-leasing rights from the owner.
