Lead Paint Abatement - Posted by Jill NJ

Most homes over 30 years do have LEAD in them. Lead is present in the paint, plumbing and possibly tub or sink. I am not sure that it would be cost effective to remove all the lead paint in a house. However all chipping and cracking paint must be replaced. Old wooden windows can be replaced to eliminate the largerst chipping paint problem. If you keep up the paint in a house you should not have a problem. I personally do not think lead will have to be rmoved from older houses, as long as it is not chipping. Beause there are too many older houses.

Many of the houses in this area are >30 years old and probably have lead paint. What procedure is used to rid the house of this and how much should we figure it will cost? Also, what is the best way to detect that the paint is present?

Thanks
