Hi Ben,
Thank you so much for your reply.
Can you give me more detail on what is a condo assoc? is it the management company? In my case, the management company also owns units in the building. sorry if my question is weird… i am just not sure…
Regards,
Tiffany

Hello everyone,
I’ve tried to search this site and the internet for more information about this topic, but coudln’t really find a straight answer.
Please help me out.

What kind of policy do I need to cover my rental condo unit? I was told by MetLife that they will not sell me rental policy unless my primary residence is insured. But I live in a Co-Op, do I need insurance for co-op (since technically, I don’t own the coop unit).

I am a bit confused cause most people has house, and when they get mortgage, the bank seems to have it set up for them. My mortgage for the condo does not include insurance.

My apology if my questions are too basic.
Thank you for all your help… i’ve enjoyed reading much on this site.
Tiffany

In my experience the condo assoc carries its own insurance. This does not cover the contents of the unit though so tenants need to get their own renter’s coverage.
