Maybe the seller didn’t know it was illegal. Sounds like you relied on your inspector’s advice that it wasn’t a big deal. I am not an attorney, but it seems you already removed your contingency, so it’s too late. See if your inspector carries errors and omissions insurance that might cover his possible error.
What does it have to do with homeowner’s insurance? I’ve never had an insurer ask me about a stove. Are you volunteering this information when getting quotes?
Inspector stated it was not up to code but would not take much to get there. Seller did not want to fix but claimed nothing wrong in disclosure. Found out it’s illegal to install,sell,or exchange non certified stoves here. Can I demand it at least be removed? And holes patched. 2 weeks to close.Also, can’t get homeowners quote yet as no one will admit who put it in.
