I was talking to a realtor the other day and was told that HUD now requires proof of funds on cash purchases. Is she confusing this with Fannie Mae or did HUD make a change.
Thanks.

I bought a HUD property about a month ago, in Maryland. It was a cash deal and no proof of funds was asked for or given.
In Maryland, HUD has not asked for proof of funds for at least three years…which is how long I have been (occasionally) buying HUD homes.

As far as I know, in my area (DC/Maryland), that has always been the policy.

This has been the policy in Florida for quite some time too.
