If I am reading this right, you are not an hier or a beneficiary of her estate.
You might be able to manufacture a case for taking title via adverse possession. These rules are very state-specific, and you need to see Illinois counsel.
For now, you are living in the house rent-free, but are paying the taxes, insurance, upkeep. You have the best possible arrangement. Enjoyment and control without the liability of ownership. Wait until all these other folks are in the ground, and then worry about swiping the title.
To draw attnetion to the situation now may be a bad move. You will be picking a fight, and you may lose the fight. Just keep quiet and keep doing what you are doing.
I live in Illinois, 6 yrs ago I purchased a house in my grandmothers name and I had POA to purchase the property on her behalf. Her intentions were to transfer the property once my divorce went through. I was out of the country for a few months. When I returned her son, my biological estranged father, moved her to Lousiana put her in a nursing home and took over her finances. I spoke to her numerous times over the phone and visited once. The whole time I was there he was there and we were not able to discuss transfer of ownership. Apparently she has passed on since.I am sure he had her will changed but I am not sure if he was aware this property was in her name. The tax bill comes in both her name and mine. I have paid the taxes year after year. Since there is an estranged relationship with her son is there a way to take ownership without involving him. I once read many years ago where if one lived in a property, maintained it they could file for homestead exemption or something of that nature and aquire ownership.Any help would be appreciated
Thanks
Eric

If you have a POW Draw up a Warranty Deed for the State the property is located. Sign on behalf of the grand mother name deeding her intrested of the property to you. Afterward go record the deed. In the State of Texas this can be done you may need to check with an Attorney in your State to be sure this is possible.
