Try the Federal Information Center at the above URL.
They should be able to get you in contact with the appropriate party-sorry I don’t know who that is.
Matthew Lesko’s books at the reference section of the
library also have a comprehensive listing of the various government experts in numerous areas and contact information.
I am trying to locate govt. information pertaining to the note industry. I have been unsuccessful to date. I have to be honest and say that I am not looking for general comments such as “Check the govt. sites” or “You can probably find something on the Dept. of Commerce site.” I have looked under several govt. sites but with no luck. I believe I located the SIC code for the industry (Home | Occupational Safety and Health Administration). As you can see, “Been there, done that.”
I am interested in:
Market size (in dollars)
Projected growth
Historical perspective
Estimated number of businesses in industry
Avg. business income for this industry
Have any of you actually found such data? If so, would you be willing to share the exact location (if on the Internet) or publication name where you obtained that info?
Please post all replies to the board so that we may all benefit from the information. I look forward to your responses.
Mark: I recently read a response from David Butler on www.notenetwork.com to a party attempting to do the same as you. I just looked to find it and it has been deleted. Basically, D/B’s response was that you probably can’t quality for a biz loan to start this business and he gave numerous reasons why. He suggested using lines of credit, etc for purchasing your own notes after getting some experience by brokering some first. You might also offer your question to the following sites: www.papersourceonlie.com and www.noteworthyusa.com
Best regards, Bill
Mark,
I am intrigued.
Are you working on an advanced degree?
or is this part of a biz plan? Just curious. I’m afraid I can be of no help in your quest, but look forward to any answers.
Maybe David A can enlighten us…
take care…
Carol
We are not looking to use the biz plan to qualify for a biz loan. The plan has a variety of other intended uses.
It will serve as a “living” document to which we match our metrics and fine tune our approach to achieve our business goals.
We also plan to use it as an education tool for the biz consultants we are lining up. There is nothing worse then having to reeducate someone new each time we are looking for advice/input.
Last but not least, it will also serve as a tool for gathering private investors. The executive summary will provide overview details. If a potential investor desires the granular-level view, we will provide them with the whole biz plan.
The govt. stats would go a long way toward painting a picture of the note industry. I did post to another note list and received a reply stating that the info I seek is not available. I was told to look at the lending industry as a whole. I may just have to give that a go though I am not sure how I will slice and dice it to get my final stats. Anyone have any ideas/thoughts?
