I’ve had sec. 8 check bounce on me a few times. But no one at the sec. 8 office could tell me why. I deposited about 3-4 of them in my bank account and couldn’t get one cashed. I now take it right down to their bank and cash it myself. I then take the cash right to my bank. Therefore, I don’t think it has anything to do with HUD being under funded.

A realtor was telling me yesterday that a number of government issued Section 8 checks have bounced in recent months. Reason cited was the program running out of funds or being underfunded. My experience with the government, aside from the once-in-a-blue-moon computer glitch, has always been without incident. Uncle Sam’s checks have always been as good as gold. Has anyone had a gov’t issued Section 8 check bounce or had any other problems associated with timely payments? I am inclined to think that the realtor is exaggerating.
