This could be the cheapest seminar we will ever attend.

House of Sand and Fog

When her husband leaves her abruptly, an alcoholic woman, Kathy Nicolo (Jennifer Connelly), unable to keep up with the paperwork, finds her house in the hills of California seized in foreclosure by sheriff deputies (including one that she becomes romantically involved with, played by Ron Eldard), and put up for public auction.

Massoud Amir Behrani (Ben Kingsley), an Iranian immigrant, has spent most of his savings trying to enhance his daughter’s chances of a good marriage. Once she is married, he spends the remaining funds on a house at an auction, unwittingly putting himself and his family in the middle of a legal tussle with Nicolo. What begins as a legal struggle turns into a personal confrontation, with tragic results. Nicolo’s obsession with getting the house back leads her to desperate measures. Which side will win this tug-of-war over a place to call home?

Kaiser was writing a (fiction?) foreclosure story on his old website.

I was into it, but was left hang’n on the count he never finished the thing.

Every time I asked about it, I was promptly ignored.

Maybe he thinks it’s not worthy of reading or something, but I would beg to differ. I’d like to read what he has after the “garage” scene.

Perhaps a petition is in order here.

I’d like to take this opportunity to apologise to StayingAnon for the above Doors reference as it might be considered by him/her/it to be “off the wall” and not worthy of reading.

So are you thinking of a career in writing reviews on movies now Stew? I like what you did in the end there… leaving us all on the edge. Real smooth

LOL Just kidding with ya man!

I have yet to go see that movie!

All the best

Having started no less than a dozen novels.

Sadly, they seem to peter out around the page 100 mark. So, I can
hook you up with absolutely nothing at the moment.

Now, please stop asking about it and let me get back to ignoring you .
. . that seemed to be working quite well for both of us ;-).

You must not know about my brother Dan’s world famous site,

I’m guessing he’s already got the ending up there, if you must know
(and don’t feel like forking over the $8 for a ticket).

Sorry,I should have given credit to the Movie Theater. This was the write-up that was on the net about the movie. I didn’t write it. Sorry, for the confusion

What kind of novels have you been reading? I was having the same trouble so I switched from fiction to history. It’s much more interesting. Fiction is obliged to stick to possibilities, fact isn’t.

One good one I read a while back was “1421” about Chinese voyages of world discovery in that year.

There was another good book about what is possibly the only authentic portrait of Willian Shakespeare painted in his lifetime. It turned up as a family legacy in Ottawa Canada.

It was more of a writing thing and not so much of a reading thing.

Maybe that’s the problem.
