I am pretty sure you need a new ID#. From what I understand, they are like social security numbers, non-transferable.

Federal Tax ID# Question - Posted by SusanL.–FL

I have a ques. regarding Fed. Tax IDs and Corporations.
I’ve had two corporations; one I opened in the early 80’s for my technical writing business in telecommunications and aerospace. The other I opened in '96 for my real estate business.
Both corps are now closed. My question is: if I open another corporation this year, can I use either of these old Tax ID #s or must I get a new tax ID for the new corp?
Thanx gang! Happy realestating!!

Rob’s right. You’re creating a new entity. It must have its own tax I.D.
