we just moved in and had same problem-basement flooded with $10,000 damage-found out previous owners had similar flooding problem two months before (and did not disclose ANY history of ANY water incursions). How did you resolve your situation?
Hi, I just bought a house in Long Island New York. During the recent rain-season, I noticed that the carpeted basement floor is wet. It seems to me the damage is to the cement foundation, where the water enters the basement. I just closed little over a month ago.
Althought there are watermarks-old ones- on the moldings, when I contacted the seller he said he’d never had that problem.
Is the seller responsible under the law or any legal statute, to fix the problem?
or
Should I take legal action against the engineer who inspected the house but failed to notice the older water marks?
