Usually these people have been contacted by a lot of “insensitive” people. Imagine what type of letter or phone call you wouldn’t be offended in receiving. I wouldn’t drip too much with sympathies or condolences. Just explain that you realize that there is a lot he needs to think about - maybe time is a factor in selling the house. You are offering him fast service or cash or easy closing - whatever you do that might make it to his advantage.

Another point to include is that there will be no realtor fees and contracts. There are so many little things that come up that an executor needs to deal with, so explain that this is the simplest/fastest/easiest way to do it. That will show that you really are not insensitive (you understand) and may help gain his trust.

Basically, put yourself in his position. That’s all.
Hope that helps.

What is a good way to contact executors of estates that have real estate for sale when the executor is a relative of the deceased? I don’t want to sound insensitive to their situation, but don’t want to miss a good deal, either. What would be a good message in a letter?

Thanks a bunch.
