NC is one of those states where the state’s Atty Gen’s office has taken the attitude that most anything done by a REI is likely fraudulent and illegal.

So please do your homework and ask lots of questions of your lawyer before selling on your REC so you know you’re in conformity with NC law in regard to your paperwork, disclosures, procedures, etc.

An alternative is a good long experienced NC RE Broker who’d know the current rules for how to sell on REC, and his/her fee might be somewhat less than a lawyer for same info.

Even before hiring a pro to advise you, do have a look at the NC AG’s website as there’s probably a good bit of info online re their current rules and thinking…and what’s upsetting them enough to be chasing some REC sellers, etc.
