You could do a DBA, however all the liability will be in your name along with exposing your personal assets should something go wrong. Setting up a LLC, s-corp, and c-corp puts the liabilities on the corportation and protects your personal assets. If you are planning on a buy and hold strategy then you should most definately incorporate.

Should I incorporate if I’m just starting out in real estate investing, or should I have the checks made to my own name? Thank you.

are you concerned about liability at all?

If nothing else I would do a DBA that I would have a company name and checking account.

I have seen pro/con discussions of LLCs, s-corp and c-corp
