Thanks, Earnest. I’ve read most of the existing glossaries and found them to be accurate, but general in nature. As my post suggests, I am building a specific glossary for use with shortsales, compromised sales, and other negotiated discounted purchases of foreclosed real estate. I am asking the ‘pros’ for terms that they often see misused. Ward from CA suggested (correctly) that the term ‘preforeclosure’ is habitually misused by folks who post on these boards. Other suggested terms include, but not limited to Realtor (vs. real estate broker), mortgagee, mortgagor, etc. I’d like us all to be on the same page. So, do you have any specific terms that you think are often misapplied?

I’m in the process of building a glossary for a new, specific service oriented website. I don’t want to reinvent the wheel, but I believe that the semantics of our jargon is essential for concise dialogue. Your suggestions for inclusion are welcome.
