Bandit sings on Trees? - Man, that's got to hurt! - Posted by Heidi W

Hi all!
As I sit here in front of my tree filled fireplace, on my wood furniture in my wood framed home, surrounded in wood fence. I wonder if I should just move to a cave… NOT!!! anyway, spend your time with more important things other than bashing us for nailing trees. Maybe you should instead focus on investing in affordable housing for the poor! I think that would be more productive. /endof rant

OK ECO-CHECK EVERYBODY -

I keep reading these disturbing posts about investors putting bandit signs on trees. I have nothing against bandit signs - but TREES ARE LIVING THINGS and shouldn’t have nails slammed into them on an ongoing basis.

Perhaps my compadres are using double-sided sticky tape?

But if you’re using nails…please stop.

Just my HUMBLE opinion.

(ok - i’m a tree hugger - what can i say?)

Ok, if nails hurt the trees, are screws OK ?
Thanks for a good laugh from all the posts on this issue, especially the ones about vegtables. I never though of that before and I will be sure to eloborate on that with the vegeterians at work who think BSE will rid the earth of meat eaters.

…get to you, Heidi, some of these posters slamming you like they are. I agree with you–pounding nails into trees for bandit signs is obnoxious.

What about vegetable? They are living things too. Why are we eating them. They have feelings too, like animals. One can make noise, while the other cannot.

Bottom line is: We can all get personal, so let’s cool this issues and move on. NEXT!

Trees are not made healthier by having nails in them.

I live in a town where the streets are lined with hundreds of old elm trees- the kinds of trees that you all used to have in every small city through out the country before they died of dutch elm disease. These trees are majestic, add greatly to the value and beauty of the neighborhoods that they’re growing in, and each one that dies is irreplacable.

I’m pro-bandit signs, but would have a fit if someone nailed a sign to one of these trees.

does that make me a sap?

Who has been posting here saying they put their signs on trees? I only recall seeing posts talking about utility poles.

I was told that untreated nails don’t hurt trees they actually help them. Minerals/iron.

Lots of people have respect for trees and other living things.
Bandit signs are considered by lots of people to be tacky and unsightly. Bandit signs on living trees may even work against you if people see it as inconsiderate and uncaring just as Heidi does, me too.
Stick to telephone poles if you must post them on trees, they are already dead.

That is funny. Well then you should not be on this planet because where you are RIGHT NOW…there was a tree which was killed…lol. I HONESTLY think you are taking an extreme position. Tree that is ‘hurt’ by a nail. WOW! I didn’t think I would ever hear this one…LOL. Oh, well that is MY opinion.
Cordially,

yeah, tree sap! LOL
stop driving your car, this causes emissions = bad for trees. Besides, a little nail will hurt a lot less than one of not getting a good deal. Think of the greater good, rather than the selfish need of the tree. By the way, I am sure you dont eat syrup- made from tree sap extacted by “hurting” the tree. Rubber from your tires, drink wine? cork is bark. The list goes on. Sorry but I’m bored at work! otherwise I would be helping the homeless or maybe chasing down elephant poachers! Besides it s my 30th birthday today, I’m allowed to throw fits!

You must be right.

The tree huggers, spike trees in forests in order to kill loggers.

You know they would not do it if the spike hurt the tree.
