Advantages of being a RE Agent - Posted by Lorenzo, NC

Real estate is really a cool business. : )

But not as an agent for most, unfortunately.

Say you sell a $100K home. property lists
@ 7 percent commission.

Total $7,000 commission

Listing Agent share 3500
Buyer agent share 3500

Being that you are new, you must likely
get 50/50 commission split with your broker.

That means $1,750. You pay for ads in paper.
You have other expenses. You take home $900.

With the exception of having your cellphone stuck
to your ear 20/7/365, it’s actually pretty cool
to be an agent.

There over 15,000 agents in Minnesota. 10,000
in twin cities. Unfortunately, there are on
average 3000 homes sold each month by agents in
twin cities.

Good luck!

Except for the time invested in getting your licsense are there any benefits of an agent/investor compared to just being an investor. I’m a recent college grad and was curious if going to real estate school would be to my advantage.

All pros and cons are appreciated

thanks

I’m currently getting my Real Estate License in Minnesota. I can buy investment property and get paid a commission to do it. How cool is that!

There are none really. You need access to the multiple listing service. That’s all. You can get that much more cheaply and have time to do your deals without becoming an agent. Just estagblish a relationship with an agent(s) and/or give them some cash for the MLS info.
