You need to file a Form 1099-MISC. Put the amount in the box for nonemployee compensation.
Call the IRS to get a copy of the form. You can view the form and the instuctions online at http://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-pdf/f1099msc.pdf , but that’s not a machine-readable copy.
Your associate should have received his copy by Jan. 31. The IRS copy is due 2/29.
I have a tax question. I need to issue a 1099 form to an associate who (unofficially)partnered on a deal with me. I’m unsure as to which 1099 form to issue him and where I can get the form. Please help. This is the first year I’ve had to do this.
